K-drama actors who boasts insane versatility with completely different roles

Korean actors not only impress with their good looks, but also their talents, and below are some actors famous for their versatility.

Lee Jong Suk

Lee Jong Suk has never disappointed with his varied portrayals on the screens, and has brought viewers from one pleasant surprise to another with his constantly changing roles.

In “Hot Young Bloods”, the actor successfully transformed into a handsome flirt, while in “Pinocchio” and “While You Were Sleeping”, he was gentle, warm, and romantic. For “V.I.P”, however, Lee Jong Suk did a complete 180 as a cold-blooded, psychopathic, and cruel villain.

Finally, in his latest project “Big Mouth”, Lee Jong Suk has delivered a complete roller-coaster ride, going from a weak-willed and mouthy lawyer and sweet husband into a cunning inmate that controls the pace of the game.

Park Seo Joon

Another young actor who impresses with his versatility is Park Seo Joon, who can be considered a “chameleon” on the Korean screen.

Park Seo Joon first gained attention as the female lead’s brother, Oh Ri On, in “Kill Me Heal Me”. Here, the actor pulled off an excellent portrayal of a gentle yet still hilarious guy.

In “She Was Pretty” and “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?”, Park Seo Joon played wealthy guys and the female lead’s superiors – though with contrasting personalities. In particular, if he was rather nit-picky and frowny in “She Was Pretty”, then his “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim” is hilariously narcissistic and dense.

For even more versatility, there’s “Fight For My Way”, which features an energetic and passionate Dong Man, who lived from penny to penny. Meanwhile, in “Itaewon Class”, Park Seo Joon transformed into a stubborn and resolute character, with his own set of convictions and a rather cold personality.

Park Seo Joon is currently filming for “Gyeongseong Creature”, where he will co-star with actress Han So Hee. Anticipation is higher than ever over what kind of image the actor will bring this time.

Kim Soo Hyun

It will be a mistake to miss out on Kim Soo Hyun when it comes to versatility, as the actor is a prime example of popularity going hand in hand with acting talents.

In “My Love From The Star”, Kim Soo Hyun became the cold and calm alien professor Do Min Joo, while in “Secretly, Greatly”, he was a loyal spy who always acted like a complete fool, with his own fair share of emotional scenes.

“The Moon Embracing The Sun” also serves to prove Kim Soo Hyun’s ability to pull off different images, as he was both a wise and cunning king and an emotional and painful person. In “Real”, the actor gave audiences some serious chills as he turned into a bank CEO with multiple personalities.

And finally, “It’s Okay To Not Be Okay” also brings a completely different image of Kim Soo Hyun.

Lee Seung Gi

While he debuted as a singer, Lee Seung Gi has long proven himself as a capable actor, with constantly changing characters.

In “My Girlfriend is a Gumiho”, Lee Seung Gi assumed the role of the quirky jokester Cha Tae Woong, who is an aspiring actor. In “A Korean Odyssey”, the actor was also a trickster, but way more vile and cunning, who only got better because of love.

Then, in “Vagabond”, Lee Seung Gi was filled with justice and vengeance as he transformed into the cascadeur Dal Gu, who had no choice but to fight back at corrupted and powerful people.

In 2021 though, Lee Seung Gi made quite the impression in “Mouse”, where he portrayed both kindness and heartlessness. On one hand, his character Jung Ba Reum appears all nice and friendly, but on the other hand, he murdered without so much a blink of the eye.

In 2022, Lee Seung Gi will adopt a brighter image as he stars in the rom-com K-drama “The Law Cafe”. This will be the actor’s 2nd time working with actress Lee Se Young, after their collaboration in “A Korean Odyssey”.
