K-Content Failed To Win At Critics’ Choice Movie Awards Even With ‘The Glory’ & ‘Moving’

At the 29th Critics’ Choice Movie Awards held in Los Angeles on January 24th (local time), all Korean series failed to win Best Foreign language Series.

Nominees in this category included Netflix’s “The Glory”, “Mask Girl”, TVING’s “Bargain”, Disney+’s Moving”, Hulu’s series “The Good Mothers” (Italy), Disney+’s “The Interpreter of Silence” (Germany) and Netflix’s “Lupin” (France).

Among the 7 nominees, Korean content accounted for the majority with 4 dramas. However, “Lupin” was announced as the winner. As a result, K-content failed to win the award for three consecutive years.

At the 27th Critics’ Choice Movie Awards held in 2022, Netflix’s “Squid Game” received two nominations for Best Foreign Language Series and Best Actor in Drama Series (Lee Jung-jae). In the end, the “Squid Game” really won two awards.

At the 28th Critics’ Choice Movie Awards last year, Apple TV+’s “Pachinko” and ENA’s drama “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” were nominated for Best Foreign Language Series, and “Pachinko” was honored with the award.

Meanwhile, Critic’s Choice Awards is an award ceremony organized by the Critics Choice Association (CCA), consisting of American broadcast and film critics, and the awards are divided into categories for film and TV series.
