On September 12, Jung Won-kwan appeared on the YouTube channel Song Seung-hwan’s Wonderful Life, where he recalled the hectic schedules and overwhelming fan love that defined his youth.
“After Do Gun-woo joined, we signed contracts for 11 nightclub shows in a single night. We could only perform at 7 or 8, but we were so young that we didn’t even feel tired,” Jung Won-kwan explained. “Even after the shows, fans waited late into the night just to take pictures with us.”
Among the stories that drew the most laughter was Jung Won-kwan’s birthday memory.

“On my birthday, I received gold, gold rings, and audio sets. There was a small trash bin, and it was completely filled with gold. Rings and bracelets stacked inside like garbage,” he revealed.
Interestingly, fan gifts varied by member. “Other members got 100% dolls,” Jung Won-kwan added, showing how different fans’ preferences were.

Veteran entertainer Song Seung-hwan responded with his own throwback, saying he mostly received paper cranes, hand-knitted scarves, and mittens during his heyday in the 1980s.
Reflecting on how times have changed, Jung Won-kwan joked: “If it were now, fans would probably give Bitcoin or some other cryptocurrency instead of gold.”
His lighthearted remark not only showed the dramatic shift in fan culture over the decades but also highlighted the lasting impact Sobangcha had on K-pop history.
