According to YTN Star on October 14, Jung Sung-il recently finalized his divorce from his non-celebrity wife. After a period of careful consideration, the couple mutually agreed to separate, completing the process amicably. They have now decided to move forward on their respective paths.
Jung Sung-il’s agency XYZ Studio released an official statement through Newsen, “After much deliberation, Jung Sung-il and his spouse have decided to conclude their marriage,” the statement read. “This decision was made through mutual agreement and not due to any particular fault from either side.”
The agency also requested that the public refrain from speculation or spreading unverified information about the actor’s personal life.
The agency concluded by assuring fans that Jung Sung-il will continue focusing on his acting career: “Jung Sung-il is determined to show good performances as an actor. We ask for your continued support and interest.”
Jung had previously captured public attention by sharing his romantic “movie-like” love story during a broadcast. He revealed that he met his wife through a mutual friend, dated for three years, broke up, and later reunited by chance leading to marriage just three months after reconnecting. The couple married in 2016 and have one son together.

Since making his debut in H (2002), Jung has built his career mainly in theater and musicals. However, his breakout moment came with Netflix’s hit series The Glory (2022–2023), where he played Ha Do-young, the husband of Park Yeon-jin (Lim Ji-yeon). The role catapulted him to widespread fame and critical acclaim.
Following The Glory, Jung continued his busy acting schedule. Earlier this year, he starred in the Disney+ series Unmasked, and in September, he made his big-screen debut as the lead in Murderer Report. His next project is the upcoming Disney+ series Made in Korea.
Despite personal changes, Jung Sung-il remains one of Korea’s most respected and versatile actors, continuing to expand his range across film, television, and stage.
