On the Jan 21st broadcast of JTBC’s “Newsroom”, Jung Il-woo, who returned with the play “Kiss of the Spider Woman”, appeared.
Jung Il-woo made his debut in 2006 with MBC’s sitcom “High Kick!”. He said, “I think of it as a distant past, but many people are talking about it again these days, so I’m grateful.” He added, “While flipping through channels, I coincidentally see my reruns. In my case, I can’t watch my own works anymore. My hands and feet cringe, so I change the channel.”
Jung Il-woo explained, “I’ve been an actor for 18 years now, and I think it’s a stroke of luck that the work that laid the foundation for me is the one where I met the character of a lifetime.” He continued, “In my 20s, I had a lot of concerns. I made efforts to play different characters, but now that I’m in my 30s, I think, rather than breaking away from that image, I need to create more developed characters.“
He also mentioned the diagnosis of cerebral aneurysm. Jung Il-woo said, “Anyway, if I have to say that there was the most significant turning point in my 20s, it’s because I was in pain. So, going through that time, I really started to be grateful day by day, and my attitude toward my works has changed.” He confessed, “I think I need that kind of time to become more solid and mature. Since I’m still in my 30s, I need more experiences, but still, I think I’m living quite fiercely in my own way, even though it’s not revealed to others.“
