Actress and writer Jung Eun-hye, known for her warm personality and work as a portrait artist, has revealed her intention to take her stepfather’s surname, replacing that of her estranged biological father.

In a video posted on August 12 to her YouTube channel 니얼굴 은혜씨, titled “From Cat Adoption to Writing an Adoption Statement, and Newlywed Life Reflections”, Jung Eun-hye opened up about her personal decision.

The video featured moments from her newlywed life, following her appearance on SBS’s Same Bed, Different Dreams 2. During the conversation, she shared, “It would be much better if my name changes to Seo Eun-hye. He would truly become my real younger sibling’s and my real father,” explaining that she wanted to honor her stepfather, Seo Dong-il, instead of keeping her estranged father’s surname.

To formalize this, Jung Eun-hye wrote an adoption statement, recalling, “I had a biological father, but he and my mom didn’t get along, so she remarried. After the divorce, I cut off contact with him. One day, he didn’t come to see me anymore.”

She continued the statement with, “My real father is Seo Dong-il. I also have a husband, and I’m living happily. Please allow my father, Seo Dong-il, to become my legal father through adoption so we can live happily together.”

Jung Eun-hye recently celebrated her 70th day of marriage with Cho Young-nam, whom she met through a public employment program for people with developmental disabilities. The couple dated for a year before marrying in May.
