At 44, actress Jun Ji-hyun is opening up about her thoughts on aging and authenticity. In a new video interview released on August 21 via GQ Korea’s YouTube channel, Jun candidly shared her reflections on her career, family, and upcoming projects.

Speaking about her highly anticipated Disney+ original series Polaris, which premieres on September 10, she admitted to feeling both excited and anxious: “I’m really looking forward to it, and I feel thrilled, but strangely enough, there are days when I feel nothing at all—so much so that I wonder, ‘Is it okay to feel this indifferent?’ I think I might be deliberately ignoring the nerves because deep down, I’m very tense and trembling.”

Jun Ji-hyun also spoke about her filming experience, revealing a unique sense of connection during the project: “Not every work makes an actor feel this way, but when I’m fully immersed in a character, it feels like I’m connected with the writer or director on set. While playing Moon-ju in Polaris, I felt that strong connection with the writer.”

When asked about her personal reflections, Jun Ji-hyun admitted she often thinks about the future: “I constantly ask myself, ‘What kind of actress will Jun Ji-hyun be when she gets older?’ I think endlessly about my family too—about how my children will grow up and what they will do. But ultimately, I try to focus more on doing the best I can today.”

On what it means to feel “like herself,” she shared: “I began to wonder if there was ever a day I wasn’t living as Jun Ji-hyun. Maybe it’s because I’m getting older, but I feel like I’m becoming more myself. I don’t want to live even a single day not being true to who I am.”

Born in 1981, Jun Ji-hyun turns 44 this year, yet her candidness and poise continue to captivate fans, making her not only one of Korea’s most iconic actresses but also a voice for authenticity and self-reflection.

Her upcoming drama Polaris is expected to further showcase her depth as an actress, while fans eagerly anticipate both her performance and her evolving journey.
