According to reports from Italy, Atalanta is eyeing Joshua Zirkzee—not Marcus Rashford or Antony, as a potential replacement for Adam Lookman, who is expected to leave the club in the coming days. This development has raised eyebrows given the Dutch striker’s relatively short stint at Old Trafford.
Zirkzee joined Manchester United last summer from Bologna for a fee of €49 million. However, his time with the Red Devils has been underwhelming. The 23-year-old has netted just seven goals in 49 appearances, failing to meet the high expectations set upon his arrival.

Interestingly, a deal between United and Atalanta wouldn’t be far-fetched. The two clubs have maintained a strong relationship over the years, evidenced by previous transfers like Amad Diallo and Rasmus Hojlund. Furthermore, John Murtough, former football director at United, now holds a similar position at Atalanta—potentially smoothing negotiations.
As Atalanta seeks an urgent attacking reinforcement, Zirkzee may find a fresh start in Serie A once again.
