Jo Se-ho Explains When He Refused To Shake Hands With Fans, “I Was In A Hurry To Find A Restroom”
Broadcaster Jo Se-ho talked about an unexpected situation he experienced on the way to work
On December 9th, the YouTube channel “DdeunDdeun” uploaded a new video titled “Chicken feet ramen is just an excuse” featuring the guest appearance of actors Lee Sung-min and Lee Jung-eun.
That day, Lee Sung-min revealed that staff sometimes misunderstood him because of his shy personality. Upon hearing that, Yoo Jae-suk asked Lee Jung-eun, “Do people often misunderstand you?”. Lee Jung-eun replied, “I think there are some misunderstandings. They think I’m the type of serious person, something like that”.
Lee Sung-min explained, “I think Jung-eun probably feels the same way. Since the public already has certain expectations for you based on what they see in movies or on TV, they easily misunderstand you when you suddenly show an unusual and different expression one day”, adding “That’s why it’s a bit burdensome to look kind and friendly all the time.”
Jo Se-ho also shared his experience. He said, “There were times when I felt so sorry toward some people”, adding “I once had a stomachache while on the way to the filming of ‘You Quiz on the Block’ so I endured it. However, as soon as I got in the car, I had the feeling that I shouldn’t continue this trip.”
Jo Se-ho said he asked his manager to stop the car near a shopping area to find a restroom. The broadcaster continued, “Many people were going to work at that time. I got out of the car and many people saw me. Then, someone said, ‘Oh, that’s Jo Se-ho’, and grabbed me. I actually hit their hand a little bit to refuse to shake their hands”.
He then apologized, saying “I did not intend to do it so I apologized. But from that person’s point of view, I guess they must have thought that I was a very rude person”.
Yoo Jae-suk said, “If it hadn’t been for the situation, you might have greeted them warmly”. Jo Se-ho explained, “That person could have had a very unpleasant day. However, I was really on the verge of having a crisis”.
Listening to the story, Lee Jung-eun and Lee Sung-min also deeply empathized with Jo Se-ho’s experience. Yoo Jae-suk added, “Please understand that such a situation can happen”.
