BLACKPINK’s Jisoo recently shared her thoughts on her growth as an actress in a candid new interview with Vanity Fair.

The video, released on October 23 via Vanity Fair’s official YouTube channel, featured Jisoo creating a clay figure of herself while answering questions about her artistic process, acting experience, and emotional inspiration.

Jisoo revealed that acting has helped her discover a deeper sense of introspection compared to performing on stage.

“When I first started acting, I thought it would be similar to music — since both involve performing for people. But it feels different,” she said. “The energy I receive while acting is more internal. It makes me think more deeply and reflect on myself.”

She added that working with diverse characters taught her empathy and emotional understanding: “By playing different characters, I started thinking in ways I never had before. It helps me understand people better.”

When asked what kind of roles she hopes to take on, Jisoo mentioned her curiosity about lighter, more cheerful characters a contrast to her previous dark or emotionally heavy ones.

“I’ve often played roles with darker tones,” she explained. “So I’m curious what it would be like to play a bright and lively character.”

Fans have praised her for showing more emotional depth since her debut acting role in Disney+’s Snowdrop, where her performance initially drew mixed reviews but later gained positive re-evaluation.

Although she continues to focus on her music career, Jisoo said that visual storytelling remains a key part of her creative process.

“Even for music videos, visuals and lyrics need to match to create synergy,” she shared. “I often study movies and other artists’ videos, like Britney Spears or Taylor Swift, to find references.”

When asked what inspires her most, Jisoo cited love as her greatest creative fuel: “There are many kinds of love self-love, love for family, pets, or a partner. All emotions like sadness or happiness come from love, so it’s important to me.”

Since debuting with BLACKPINK in 2016, Jisoo has evolved from a global pop star to a rising actress. Her recent interviews show a more reflective and confident side, signaling that she’s ready to take on new challenges both in music and film.
