In January 16th, social media was sent into a frenzy when Jimin was announced global ambassador of Dior in a short announcement on Instagram. The caption read, “The House is thrilled to announce @J.M (Jimin) from #BTS as new Dior global ambassador.” They added, “the singer is now lending his image to creations from Artistic Director of Dior men’s collections, @MrKimJones.” The accompanied photos were Jimin in the latest Dior’s 2023 Summer Collection.
In speaking of the reason behind the election, Dior stated in a concise manner, “The South Korean artist now embodies the spirit and singularity of Dior style, modernity with a timeless signature.”
The most recent connection between BTS and the French luxury house dated back to 2019 when the menswear designer Kim Jones designed BTS’ stage outfits for their “Love Yourself: Speak Yourself” world tour. BTS previously worked with Louis Vuitton as brand ambassadors in 2021, which has now ended. It is known that both Louis Vuitton and Dior are under the luxury conglomerate LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton.
Jimin joins Cha Eun Woo and Sehun as ambassadors for Dior menswear.
