Recently, on August 18, JYP officially announced that Jeongyeon (TWICE) will not be participating in promotional activities with TWICE due to symptoms of panic and psychological anxiety.
Specifically, in the announcement, JYP stated that the female idol has been taking measures to recover while moving forward with her schedule at the same time. However, the artists’ health is still the most important matter. Therefore, after internal discussion with different sides, including consultation from medical professionals, the company decided that Jeongyeon needs more time to focus on her recovery.
Despite having discussed with TWICE members and promised to do their best to give Jeongyeon enough time to recover, JYP still received a lot of criticism from fans for “overworking” their artists. Fans claim the way JYP treats their artists is alarming.

In June last year, Jeongyeon revealed for the first time that she had undergone surgery for a herniated disc in her neck. Jeongyeon had to sit in the online concert and couldn’t attend the Soribada Awards with TWICE.
This is not the first time JYP spoke out on the mental health of their idols. Not long ago, Mina (TWICE) was also absent from the group’s “Feel Special” comeback due to health reasons. The female idol was diagnosed with symptoms of an anxiety disorder – similar to Jeongyeon.
Some comments from netizens:
– JYP is overworking the members. I’m not even a fan, but I’m still angry. How would you expect them to rest with that many back to back schedules?
– Honestly, I like Jeongyeon’s vocals the most in TWICE. Hopefully she will recover soon both physically and mentally.
– JYP always knows how to mistreat their artists.
– TWICE’s choreography without one member is no longer complete.
