According to an YTN exclusive report on July 22, TWICE‘s Jeongyeon has recently been cast in the military-themed film, titled New Recruit: The Movie (tentative title) and directed by Min Jin Ki. She has been offered the role of a military nurse officer, marking her first appearance in a feature film nearly ten years after her debut in the music industry.
The movie serves as a spin-off of the popular drama series New Recruit, which began in 2022 and has completed three successful seasons as of April 2025. The series is known for its hyper-realistic and comedic portrayal of life in South Korea’s military service, earning a loyal viewership for its relatable themes and humor.

Unlike its parent series, which centered on military barracks life, New Recruit: The Movie will shift the narrative setting to a military hospital. The script is currently in its final stages of development, and filming is scheduled to begin in the latter half of 2025. Jeongyeon is reportedly coordinating her schedule to accommodate the production timeline.
Jeongyeon debuted with TWICE in 2015 under JYP Entertainment. Over the years, the group has released multiple hit songs such as “CHEER UP,” “TT,” “FANCY,” and “Dance The Night Away,” solidifying their status as one of K-pop’s leading acts.
Most recently, TWICE released their fourth full-length album This Is For on July 11 and is currently engaged in their sixth world tour. The group is also set to headline the Lollapalooza Chicago music festival, further showcasing their global influence.
