Jeon So Mi tearfully confesses about being bullied in school, “I asked mom to let me do plastic surgery to look like a Korean girl”

Singer Jeon So Mi shed tears upon revealing the past stories of when she was bullied in elementary school.

On July 13th, the Youtube channel “by PDC” uploaded a new video titled “Yoon-ah, I’m here to boost your views! | Song Yoon-ah by PDC [ep.20 Artist Jeon Somi (Part 1)]”.

In the video, Jeon So Mi revealed the story of her father, actor Matthew Douma, becoming close to Song Yoon Ah after appearing in the same movie as Seol Kyung Gu.

Jeon So Mi was active as a member of the one-year project girl group I.O.I 7 years ago and received huge love from the public as the center back then. Recalling memories, she shared, “I wanted to win ‘Produce’ so badly. I feared nobody would give me a ‘national’ title even if I made my debut because I’m biracial. So I was so happy when I was titled ‘National Center’. It’s like I got approved. Those were the happiest days of my life. And I also became a representative of multicultural families”.

Jeon So Mi then confessed that she was bullied in elementary school. She said, “I transferred to an elementary school in Korea. At first, everybody said I looked like a doll because it was their first time meeting a biracial kid. For the next two days, I was the most popular kid at my new school”, adding “The day after I transferred, there was a student election. My entire classmates pressured me to participate, so I participated without really knowing what it was all about and won with the most votes.”

She continued, “But then, there was this girl who prepared so hard, and I think she got really frustrated about the result. All her work went to waste because of a newcomer like me”, adding “And she began to bully me along with her friends. She began making me an outcast, which continued until the first semester of 6th grade”.

Jeon So Mi shared, “They would take advantage of me when they needed me, then remove my desk elsewhere when they were done. They even ripped up my library card or throw my shoes in the trash and it got worse by the day”, adding “We had a journal assignment and I would write everything that had happened for the teacher to read. And every time I did that, my teacher would try to give advice and listen to me whenever he or she could. But there wasn’t much I could do about it.”

With teary eyes, Jeon So Mi said, “I think I just endured it. I always whined to my mom that I didn’t want to go to school or that I wanted to get plastic surgery so I could look like a Korean girl”, adding “You see? I thought I got over it but right as we speak I’m tearing up again. I guess it still hurts. She was so mean!”. Revealing that she tried to change the situation during the second semester of 6th grade, Jeon So Mi said, “Luckily, I didn’t finish my school year as an outcast”.
