Jeon Jong-seo’s First Drama Challenge Ends Up A Failure?

Jeon Jong-seo’s first drama is right ahead of its final broadcast but the rating performance is really disappointing

Episode 10 of tvN’s Mon-Tue drama “Wedding Impossible”, which aired on March 26th, recorded a nationwide rating of 2.2%. In fact, the original broadcasting time of the drama overlapped with the broadcast of the 2026 FIFA North-Central America World Cup 2nd Qualifier: Korea VS Thailand so the production team decided to air the 10th episode 30 minutes earlier, but it still regretfully decreased and reached the lowest viewership.

Starting with 4.0% in episode one, the drama remained in the 4% range. Its viewership performance did not increase but fell to 3.7% in episode 5 and eventually dropped to the 2% range in episode 10. “Wedding Impossible” is a 12-episode romance series that will wrap up after releasing the final episode next week but there seems to be no sign of a rebound in viewership. Although it’s Jeon Jong-seo’s first challenge as a lead actress in a drama, the result is a little bitter.

Earlier, Jeon Jong-seo gained recognition for her acting skills right from her debut film “Burning” (2018) by director Lee Chang-dong. She then achieved great success on the big screen with “The Call” and “Ballerina” with powerful and unique characters.

As such, many viewers think the image of Na Ah-jeong, an ordinary rom-com female lead, in the romance “Wedding Impossible” does not fit Jeon Jong-seo, an actress with many cool expressions, at all. Throughout the drama, the scene that received the most criticism was when the lead couple kissed after confirming their feelings for each other. It was an important scene for the development of the storyline but the way Jeon Jong-seo conveyed the lines were difficult to sympathize with. Many people complained about discomfort due to her excessive pronunciation, saying “I don’t think she suits romantic comedies”.

There are only two episodes left, but the chance of a recovery of rating performance is very low. If this trend continues, the drama may possibly end quietly and regrettably.
