Jeon Jong-seo Makes First Comeback After Controversy: ‘School Violence Allegations Completely Fake’

The press conference for the TVING drama “Queen Woo,” directed by Jung Se-kyo and written by Lee Byung-hak, took place at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Seoul on the 27th. Director Jung Se-kyo, writer Lee Byung-hak, and cast members Jeon Jong-seo, Kim Moo-yeol, Jung Yu-mi, and Lee Soo-hyuk attended the event.

In April, Jeon Jong-seo was suddenly embroiled in school violence allegations. At the time, a netizen claimed on an online community that they attended the same middle school as actress “J,” accusing her of being a perpetrator of school violence. “J” was identified as Jeon Jong-seo.

Jeon Jong-seo’s agency, Andmarq, responded by stating, “As soon as we became aware of the post in the community, we thoroughly checked the facts with the actress and those around her, and confirmed that the claims made in the post are completely false. We will take strong action against the dissemination of false information and plan to take necessary legal measures to protect the actress through our law firm.”

In her first public appearance since the allegations, Jeon Jong-seo addressed the question of the truth behind the rumors by saying, “As I stated through my agency before, it is completely untrue. If it were true, I would not have been able to present my work or appear before the public. I regret being involved in such matters, and I will focus on delivering a good project to help those who may have been hurt by this recover. My company and I are working to resolve this issue properly.”

She added, “Today is an event for ‘Queen Woo,’ so I sincerely hope that the reporters will focus on the drama.”

“Queen Woo” is a historical action-thriller where the queen, targeted by princes and tribes vying for power after the sudden death of the king, fights to establish a new king within 24 hours. The drama features a stellar cast, including Jeon Jong-seo (as Woo-hee), Kim Moo-yeol (as Eul-pa-so), Jung Yu-mi (as Woo-sun), Lee Soo-hyuk (as the third prince Go-bal-gi), Park Ji-hwan (as Mu-gol), and Ji Chang-wook (as Go-nam-moo), drawing significant attention.

In the series, Jeon Jong-seo plays Woo-hee, who becomes the center of a massive power struggle following the king’s death. Kim Moo-yeol plays Eul-pa-so, the national minister of Goguryeo, while Jung Yu-mi takes on the role of Woo-sun, the queen’s loyal maid, and Lee Soo-hyuk portrays Go-bal-gi, the third prince and a candidate for the throne.

“Queen Woo” consists of eight episodes, with Part 1 premiering on TVING on August 29th, followed by Part 2 on September 12th.
