The public is eagerly await news on BLACKPINK members’ contract status with YG Entertainment

On November 14, it was discovered through the website of KIPRIS (Korea Intellectual Property Rights Info Service) that 10 trademarks of the name “Jennie Ruby Jane” had been applied under Jennie Kim.

On the same day, it was also revealed that the managers responsible for the activities of BLACKPINK have been leaving YG Entertainment one after another, sparking attention on whether BLACKPINK will renew their contracts.

The manager who had been in charge of Lisa, who worked as a senior manager at YG for five years from 2018, announced through her ‘LinkedIn’ profile that she left YG at the end of October.

BLACKPINK, debuted in 2016, is currently in discussions with YG about renewing the contract, as the group celebrates its 7th debut anniversary this year. Currently, the members have not been actively participating in group activities since the Seoul encore concert in September.

Various rumors surrounding BLACKPINK and YG have emerged, ranging from claims that “Lisa turned down a 50 billion won contract proposal from YG” to speculation about only Rosé renewing with YG, and even rumors about Jennie and Jisoo establishing their own agencies. However, YG has clarified, saying that “contract renewal is still under discussion.”

While YG Entertainment has historically been transparent about exclusive contract details through regular reports, the recent third-quarter report released on November 14th remained ambiguous.

YG said, “As of the disclosure date, negotiations for the exclusive contract with BLACKPINK are in progress, and the final results will be announced through future disclosures related to major management matters for investment judgment.”

With BLACKPINK’s operating profit estimated to contribute over 85% of YG’s total, the group’s contract renewal remains the focus of attention.
