Actor Jang Dong-gun delivered his recent status.
On March 18th, TV Chosun’s special program “Jang Dong-gun’s Back to the Books” released some photos of Jang Dong-gun traveling to prestigious European bookstores ahead of season 2’s airing.
In the documentary, Jang Dong-gun became a presenter and visited the best bookstores in Europe. In the digital era where everyone talks about the paper book crisis, he focused on secrets of the success of prestigious bookstores in the world with hundreds of years of history.
Season 1 first aired in 2019. At that time, he visited Japan and China, but in season 2, the program was filmed in the Netherlands, England, Austria and Greece for 2 years and 5 months. A total of 4 episodes have been prepared for each country, and about 30 unique and attractive bookstores will be introduced.
Jang Dong-gun shared his thoughts, “When I was first offered this project, I wondered if we could sympathize with the labor of opening paper books again in the era of reading and listening to books through digital media. So ‘Back to the Books’ was like a challenge to me.”
Then he added, “However, I felt that the special bookstores I visited while filming were more than just a store, but a space where a new world began. Numerous stories and people entered the bookstore with books, and the long flow of time added to it to make it a unique culture. Paper books contain charms that cannot be replaced by convenient technology.”
He also selected “Back to the Books” as the most enjoyable show he had done so far.
The production team of “Back to the Books” asked viewers to look forward to the project, “This project, which has been carried out with difficulties through the barriers of the pandemic, will paradoxically be a journey to find what is most needed in the pandemic era.”
TV Chosun’s special program “Jang Dong-gun’s Back to the Books season 2” will premiere at 10:30 PM on March 20th with the first episode “The Netherlands – Bookstore in Heaven, Dominicanen”. A total of 4 episodes will be broadcast every Sunday.
Meanwhile, Jang Dong-gun married Go So-young in 2010 and they have one son and one daughter.
