IVE’s casting agency: “There was no final answer from Starship, couldn’t deliver the down payment”

Amid disagreements with the student council regarding IVE’s absence from the Kyungbuk National University Festival, the casting agency in charge announced its position.

Der Mersen Agency, who was in charge of recruiting IVE to Kyungpook National University Daedongje Festival, said in a press release on October 5th, “We received a request from a local agency that asked us to cast IVE, and we had also asked Starship Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as ‘Starship’) but did not receive a final answer from them. After that, Starship has informed us agency that it cannot respond to the invitation request, and we have also notified the local agency that IVE will not attend,” it claimed.

“In the end, the responsibility for this incident is from our agency’s fault for not giving up the lingering feelings and opening up a possibility to the local agency,” it said, adding, “The down payment was then not delivered to Starship and returned to the local agency.”

Regarding the statement of opposition to the Central Emergency Response Committee of Kyungbuk National University Student Association and Starship Entertainment, they apologized, “Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, our agency executives have already come to Daegu. We would like to apologize to the students, the organizer of Kyungbuk University Festival and local agencies for their efforts in this process. Above all, we sincerely apologize to the students of Kyungbuk National University, Starship Entertainment, and IVE members, who are suffering damages due to the communication problem between our agency and Starship.”

Earlier, Kyungbuk National University made a claim regarding IVE’s invited performance for October 6th, saying “We received Starship’s unilateral cancellation of IVE’s performance because of visa issues among the members”.

Starship, on the other hand, refuted Kyungbuk National University’s claim, confirming that the agency received an offer to appear at the festival from Kyungbuk National University, but had not given any definite answer because it was difficult for IVE to attend the event due to other schedules. It was also stated that no specific discussions on the contract and payment of IVE’s appearance had been made with Starship.

Below is the full text of the 3rd party agency’s official statement:

Hello, We are Der Mersen Agency, who was in charge of recruiting IVE at Kyungpook National University Daedongje Festival.

First of all, wesincerely apologize for the confusion caused by the issue this time, and we will briefly report the process of recruiting IVE and the reason why they couldn’t join.

We received a request from a local agency that asked us to cast IVE, and we had also asked Starship Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as ‘Starship’) but did not receive a final answer from them.

Since then, Starship has informed our agency that it cannot respond to the invitation request, and we have also notified the local agency that IVE will not attend. Therefore, we have met with the local agency and other officials to discuss the countermeasures and make efforts for them to appear at the Daedongje Festival.

In the end, the responsibility for this incident is from our agency’s fault for not giving up the lingering feelings and opening up a possibility to the local agency. The down payment was then not delivered to Starship and returned to the local agency.

We just saw the notice posted to inform Kyungbuk National University students of the change of the festival cast lineup yesterday. Of course, Starship did not have any appearance plan set so we made a statement of opposition and our agency executives have already come to Daegu after recognizing the seriousness of the situation.

We would like to apologize to the students, the organizer of Kyungbuk University Festival and local agencies for their efforts in this process. Above all, we sincerely apologize to the students of Kyungbuk National University, Starship Entertainment and IVE members, who are suffering damages due to the communication problem between our agency and Starship. We will do our best to prevent this communication problem from reoccurring and promise to be more careful in the future. Thank you for reading this long statement until the end.
