“I’ve never been a mother, but I can relate to this story”, Brave Girls Yujeong (East, West, South, North)

Brave Girls member Yujeong was moved after a “picture book village” tour.

In the new episode of ENA’s travel entertainment program “Suspicious Bookstore – East West South Book” (hereafter referred to as “East, West, South, North”), which aired on October 11th, cast members visited a “picture book village” where writers live. A romantic autumn picnic was held at this place, a popular book tour spot, along with picture books containing the joys and sorrows of villagers and writers.

In particular, Jo Se-ho, Cha Tae-hyun, and Park Sang-young went on a book trip to Buyeo, Chungcheongnam-do with the guest member, Brave Girls Yujeong. Before the book tour, the four stopped at the “Buyeo Living History Private Museum”, which houses relics and materials related to the lives of our ancestors from prehistoric times to modern times.

The four of them felt nostalgic over old gum papers, projectors, and matchboxes, and had a great time looking at relics from the Baekje era to an unusual place called the “Adult Exhibition Room”.

After this, Jo Se-ho asked Director Choi Kyu-won if he read a lot of books. At this question, the director drew admiration by exclaiming, “With books, we can know our roots and the thoughts of our ancestors. Books are genealogy.”

Recommended by Director Choi Kyu-won, the cast members, who are now “book tourists”, hurried to the “Shin Dong-yup Literature Museum” in search of the story of poet Shin Dong-yup, the pride of Buyeo. Writer Park Sang-young boasted of his relationship with poet Shin Dong-yup, saying that his novel, “Love in the Big City”, was also a winner of the Shin Dong-yup Literary Award.

Meanwhile, after reading Shin Dong-yup’s collection “Good Language”, Yujeong said, “It’s a very necessary word for me.” Then Cha Tae-hyun asked, “Why? Do you speak harshly?” to which Yujeong tactfully replied “yes” without hesitation, drawing smiles from the rest of the cast.

Jo Se-ho, Cha Tae-hyun, Park Sang-young, and Yujeong entered the “picture book village where writers live”, where they will go on a full-fledged book tour. All the residents of this place were artists who drew picture books. 23 picture books drawn by the elderly caught the attention of four people. The picture books, which were created after ages of practice by elderly people who had never painted before, boasted their individuality. The elderly writers attended a reading session to read their own books.

Artist Park Nam-soon left a longing feeling and provided great fun through paintings with “Walnut Tree and Squirrel”. Artist Park Song-ja surprised readers by expressing her own life story with chicken drawings in “The Story of Chickens Planting Flowers”. Artist Kim Young-ja’s “My Grandmother” contained a deep longing for her grandmother, touching everyone’s heart. Yujeong said, “My grandmother raised me, too. My parents and grandmother are still living together. I cried because I missed them.” Through “The Story of the Night School”, Park Shin-tae told the history of a village, saying that even during the Japanese colonial period, villagers were able to learn Hangeul through night schools, which enabled the elderly in the village to become artists.

The four “Book Tourist” musketeers received the “Picnic Set” as a special course in the picture book village and fell in love with books while eating lunch boxes after touring the village full of pictures. While enjoying the autumn breeze, the four chose their favorite picture books and read them in front of the elderly in the village to pick the “bestseller among us”.

In this process, Yujeong chose “Magnificent Mother Awards” and shared her thoughts, “I’ve never been a mother, but I can relate to this story.”

The book tour, which was full of healing and romance, came to an end as villagers and picture book artists voted for Yang Ye-yeon’s “Grumble Grumble”, which was chosen by Cha Tae-hyun, as the bestseller.
