IVE Ahn Yujin professionally handled “Music Core” stage accident, production team criticized

Criticisms are directed towards the production team of “Music Core” after IVE Ahn Yujin were seen calmly managing a stage accident. 

On the 12th, MBC’s “Show! Music Core” was broadcasted. This episode, which was held as a special for the “2023 Ulsan Summer Festival”, was recorded 5 days prior.

On this day, IVE, Kwon Eunbi, Jo Yuri, ZEROBASEONE, and others made appearances, with IVE performing “I AM” towards the end of the event.

After the broadcast, various videos, including on-site camera footage, were shared online, revealing the moment when Ahn Yujin narrowly escaped an accident.

Towards the end of the performance, fireworks went off on stage, and smoke from the fireworks was captured entering Ahn Yujin’s eyes.

Despite the discomfort caused by the smoke, Ahn Yujin closed her eyes, cringed her nose, and then quickly lowered her head, retreating backstage to handle the situation smoothly.

While enduring the continuing discomfort in her eyes, she continued the performance as if nothing had happened, concluding her song neatly with an ending pose.

After the video of Ahn Yujin’s “stage accident” was shared, netizens have been sending their support and encouragement, praising her for the calm handling of the stage accident.

At the same time, since this scene was edited in the final “Music Core” broadcast, criticisms are also arising towards the production team. Without the release of the video depicting the actual on-site situation, viewers of the broadcast can’t see the traces of the accident crisis during IVE’s performance and Ahn Yujin’s actions.

As a result, concerns about safety neglect on stage are once again brought to debate. 

In fact, the 2023 Jamboree Kpop Concert, which was held at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on the 11th, continued with the singers’ performances even though it was apparent that the stage was slippery due to the rain and many artists were wearing high heels.
