IU, who attended the Cannes for the first time in her life, said she did “the worst thing” there

Famous idol-actress IU blamed herself for doing one action wrongly at the 2022 Cannes International Film Festival. 

IU recently had an interview with Korean media prior to the release of her film “Broker”. Previously, the idol-actress decided to challenge herself and play a single mother in Hirokazu Koreeda’s cinematic project “Broker”. She was then invited to attend the 75th Cannes International Film Festival, which was held in Cannes, France.

“Broker”, which follows the lives of people related to a service called “baby box”, stars a powerful cast and promptly draws a lot of attention. Among them, Song Kang Ho, who played a laundry owner and adoption broker, won the prestigious Best Actor Award at the Cannes.

In her interview, IU talked about going to the Cannes International Film Festival for the first time in her life, saying: “It felt as if I was in a movie”. 

Regarding her heart gesture, which has become a hot topic, IU shared: “There’s even a strange meme about my gesture now. I really made a mistake with the heart sign. It’s the worst thing I’ve done in Cannes.”

And added that she wanted to do it again, with more confidence.

She also added: “I would be more confident if there is a next time, I took notes on this already. I want to do it again with confidence before I die.”

Previously, “Broke” had a VIP premiere in Seoul. The movie will be officially released in cinemas starting June 8th, 2022.
