Previously on September 22, IU concluded her HEREH world tour with a concert at the Seoul World Cup Stadium.
The night, which marks IU’s 100th concert, included various remarkable moments and attracted many famous celebrities. In addition, during IU’s performance of the song “Shh…”, a surprise VCR was played in the background, paying tribute to various female artists from the 1st and 5th generation of K-pop.
Among these, images of BLACKPINK, NewJeans, Seulgi, GFRIEND, TWICE. MAMAMOO, AKMU’s Soohyun, STAYC, NMIXX, ITZY, LE SSERAFIM, (G)I-DLE, IVE, aespa, Bol4, and Lee Hi, among many others, can be spotted, embracing the meaning of “Shh..”, which is about women sharing complicated emotions that can’t be named simply as love, friendship, obsession, or anything else.
According to the female artists themselves, IU personally contacted and asked for permission to use the image of all the aforementioned artists before including them in her VCR.
Many netizens have since praised IU’s move as a powerful moment, celebrating not only the soloist’s historic moment but also honoring the legacy of all fellow female artists in the industry.
