IU: From a 3-Octave Range 18-Year-Old Girl to Actress Lee Ji Eun 

Let’s take a closer look at IU’s career, from her humble beginnings as a 18-year-old girl known for her 3-octave range to her rise as a successful actress, among other things.

In September 2008, IU released her debut single “A Lost Child,” which was well received by the public. IU’s unique vocal color and 3-octave high note in the hit “Good Day” quickly became her trademark and set her apart from other artists.

In addition to her music career, IU has also had a successful acting career. She made her acting debut in the KBS2 drama “Dream High” in 2011, playing the role of Kim Pil Suk, a student who dreams of becoming a singer. Her acting in the drama earned her the Best New Actress award at the KBS Drama Awards.

IU’s talent has not gone unnoticed outside of South Korea. In 2022, she starred in the film “Broker,” which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. Her performance in “Broker” was praised by critics, and recognized in both Korea and overseas.
