The first couple poster for the upcoming drama The Grand Prince’s Wife of the 21st Century has finally been revealed, showcasing the on-screen chemistry between IU and Byeon Woo-seok.
Set to premiere on April 10, the new MBC Friday–Saturday series has already been named one of the most anticipated Korean dramas of the first half of 2026. To highlight the unique world-building of the show, the network confirmed a special time slot, with the first episode scheduled to air at 9:40 p.m., ten minutes earlier than the usual broadcast time.
The story takes place in a fictional version of modern Korea where a constitutional monarchy still exists in the 21st century. In the drama, IU plays Seong Hee-joo, a wealthy chaebol heiress who seemingly has everything but feels frustrated by her status as a commoner. Meanwhile, Byeon Woo-seok portrays Prince Ian, the second son of the royal family who, despite his noble lineage, finds himself unable to freely pursue what he wants.
Facing their own limitations, the two characters decide to enter a contract marriage, forming a partnership that could help them achieve their personal goals.
The newly released poster captures the pair standing side by side, gazing in the same direction with determined expressions. Their elegant traditional-inspired styling and royal accessories give the image a wedding-photo-like atmosphere, emphasizing their transformation into a powerful royal couple.
The production team explained that although both characters appear to have enviable lives on the surface, they each carry emotional struggles tied to their social positions. Through their contract marriage, they will gradually overcome those limitations and begin to share a common dream.
With its intriguing premise and high-profile cast, The Grand Prince’s Wife of the 21st Century is expected to draw significant attention when it premieres next month on Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation.
