As actors IU and Byeon Woo Seok prepare to star together in the MBC drama Perfect Crown, their past connection from nearly a decade ago has once again become a hot topic online.
Recently, online communities and social media platforms have been revisiting the two stars’ previous collaboration, drawing renewed attention to their earlier on-screen relationship.

IU and Byeon Woo Seok actually shared the same project back in 2016 through the SBS drama Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo. Although they did not have a direct romance storyline at the time, appearing in the same production allowed them to form an early connection.
In that drama, Byeon Woo Seok made a special appearance as Ki-dong, the modern-day boyfriend of IU’s character Hae Soo. His role portrayed a man who cheated on her with her friend, briefly appearing in the contemporary timeline of the story.
Because of that earlier collaboration, fans are particularly interested in the fact that the two actors will now reunite as the main leads in Perfect Crown, marking their first full romantic partnership on screen nearly nine years later.

Meanwhile, Perfect Crown is set in a fictional 21st-century constitutional monarchy version of South Korea. The story follows a romance that challenges social status between a wealthy woman who has everything except noble status and a royal prince who possesses a title but cannot truly have anything of his own. The drama is scheduled to premiere on April 10 at 9:40 p.m.
In the series, IU will play Sung Hee-joo, a powerful chaebol heiress who seems to have everything but is limited by her commoner status. Byeon Woo Seok will portray Prince Yi Ahn, the king’s second son who belongs to the royal family yet lives without real power or freedom.
