K-pop fans are abuzz as project girl group I.O.I may be heading toward a full-group reunion for their upcoming 10th anniversary. Member Jeon Somi has confirmed that discussions are already underway, fueling anticipation for a possible return in 2026.
Formed through Mnet’s Produce 101 Season 1 in 2016, I.O.I enjoyed massive popularity during their eight-month run before officially disbanding in January 2017. While a 2019 reunion attempt fell through, the members have consistently expressed their affection for the group, keeping the door open for future projects.

Earlier in May 2025, reports surfaced that the group was exploring the idea of releasing a new song to mark their 10th anniversary. At the time, representatives shared that “internal discussions” were taking place. In July, member Chungha hinted on a web variety show that the members had been meeting to talk about the reunion, giving fans a reason to hope.
Now, Jeon Somi has offered a direct update. In a recent interview promoting her second EP Chaotic & Confused, she said:
“Many people seem to want a reunion, and we also want it, so this time we’re talking about it a little earlier. We once told fans we’d reunite five years after disbandment, but it wasn’t easy since we were all active in different fields. But with the 10th anniversary coming, we’re trying to coordinate schedules so it can happen. We’re thinking about how to make it a beautiful memory for everyone without dragging things out.”

It has been over eight years since I.O.I’s official activities ended, yet public interest remains strong. If the reunion goes ahead with a new song next year, expectations are high that the group could once again make waves in the K-pop industry.
With positive signs from multiple members, I.O.I’s potential 2026 comeback could mark one of the most anticipated milestones in K-pop history.
