Kim Sung Kyu, the leader of boy group INFINITE, expressed a strong determination toward group activities.
On the afternoon of June 28th, a press conference was held at a cafe in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul to commemorate the release of Kim Sung Kyu’s fifth mini-album, “2023 S/S Collection”.
“2023 S/S Collection” is a new album released about 7 months after the special single “Dear my fan”, which was released in November of last year to commemorate Kim Sung Kyu’s 10th anniversary of his solo debut.
At the press conference, Kim Sung Kyu expressed his joy about making a comeback after a long time, and said, “I recently finished a musical performance. Last week, I went to Hong Kong and Taiwan to hold concerts. I’ve been very busy with broadcast activities and album preparations”.
Regarding the background of establishing the agency “Infinite Company”, the male idol explained, “Unintentionally, we (INFINITE members) couldn’t engage in activities for a long time. Last year, when all of our members were discharged from the military, I thought there was no reason for us not to be together”, adding, “After various discussions, as the leader, I decided to establish a company that can solely support INFINITE activities. I am working hard while discussing with the members.”
Afterwards, Kim Sung Kyu smiled and said, “It feels awkward to be called the representative of Infinite Company. It’s less burdensome, more comfortable, and familiar to be called the leader (of INFINITE).”
On the other hand, Kim Sung Kyu’s new album includes seven colorful songs that showcase his distinctive musical style, including the title track “Small Talk”, as well as B-sides “Intro: Time Lapse”, “It Will Be”, “Jump”, “Go Again”, “Sometimes”, and the instrumental track of the title track “Small Talk.”
The title track “Small Talk” is a catchy song with an addictive rhythm and melody, accentuated by lively band sound. It features Kim Sung Kyu’s musical message of attempting an ice-breaking challenge to the world, along with sensory lyrics that can be interpreted in various ways depending on the situation of listeners.
Kim Sung Kyu’s new mini-album, “2023 S/S Collection”, will be released through music streaming sites at 6:00 PM (KST) on June 28th.
