Indian K-pop female idol recorded over 90 million views on Weibo with her fancam as soon as she debuted

Following Japanese, Chinese, Taiwanese and Vietnamese idols, K-pop is also welcoming the appearance of Indian idols.

On April 15th, online media Zing news wrote about a rare Indian member of a K-pop girl group.

She’s Aria, a member of Escrow Entertainment’s rookie group X:in that has just made their official debut this spring.

X:in is a five-member multinational girl group consisting of Korean members Roa, Chi.U, E.sha, Russian member Nova and Indian member Aria.

After introducing their debut song on April 12th, X:in appeared on a music show and drew keen attention from the audience with their outstanding visuals that have not been seen in other K-pop girl groups despite coming from a small company.

In particular, overseas fans pay attention to member Aria, the third Indian to debut as a K-pop idol following Priyanka of Z-Girls and Sriya of Blackswan.

Not much information about the members has been revealed but according to media reports, Aria (real name Aria Gauthami) was born in 2003 in Kerala, southern India. Apart from her native language, Aria is also fluent in English and Korean.

Before becoming a singer, she worked as a child actress in India. It is said that she has attracted keen public attention ever since she was young thanks to her doll-like visual.

In released photos, Aria impresses K-pop fans with her glamorous look and distinctive facial features, including thick double eyelids, big eyes, a sharp nose, and sharp jawlines.

Aria’s charming appearance has also helped her gain fans in China even before her official debut. Shortly after performing her first stage, fancams and photos of Aria’s first stage were shared widely among fans on Weibo and have exceeded 90 million views. She also rose to 4th rank in the trending search chart on this largest news portal site in China.

According to the media, Aria joined another agency as a trainee and was supposed to debut under the stage name Ami, but she left the company earlier this year. On the 8th of last month, Aria was revealed as the final member of X:in.

Aria received enthusiastic support from music fans in India as soon as the news of her K-pop debut was reported. Indian netizens also expressed their happiness and pride that an Indian artist is debuting in the highly competitive K-pop market.
