Im Si-wan “I called Lee Byung-hun after watching ‘Squid Game’, it’s amazing to appear in Season 2”

“It’s an unbelievable opportunity”

Actor Im Si-wan shared his thoughts on appearing in Netflix’s original series “Squid Game“. During an interview held at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of Dec 19th, Im Si-wan expressed, “It feels like something unbelievable is happening.”

Netflix’s original series “Squid Game” revolves around a secret contest where 456 players, all of whom are in deep financial hardship, risk their lives to play a series of deadly children’s games for the chance to win a 45.6 billion won prize. The work gained global popularity, setting a record as the top-viewed Netflix show. Im Si-wan joined the cast for Season 2.

Im Si-wan mentioned, “I binge-watched ‘Squid Game’ all at once because it was so interesting. It’s a work in my favorite genre. It was so enjoyable that I called senior Lee Byung-hun and said, ‘Senior, were you the Front Man? It’s so awesome.’ I was so immersed in the series that just being able to join Season 2 still feels unbelievable.”

Im Si-wan continued, “It’s unbelievable for me because it’s a work in the genre I love. It’s such a surprising experience to have a good work come so quickly.”

Meanwhile, Im Si-wan is currently appearing in Coupang Play’s “Boyhood”. Regarding “Boyhood”, he shared, “The profession ‘actor’ often involves taking on roles or professions with talents that are much higher than what they actually possess. Byeong-tae (his character in ‘Boyhood’) isn’t good at calculations. There was a sense of relief in playing a role where being wrong makes sense.
