Lee Byung Hun made a witty joke at the 21st Director’s Cut Awards
The 21st Director’s Cut Awards Ceremony hosted by DGK (Director’s Guild of Korea) was held at the Convention Hall of Chungmu Art Center on the afternoon of February 24th (Korean time), and was broadcast live on Naver NOW.
On this day, Lee Byung Hun went on stage to present the Actor of the Year Award (Film) and said, “It’s nice to see my colleagues here. I’m even more glad that I’ve been resting for about a year.”
He continued, “Above all, I’m glad that it’s the first awards ceremony held face-to-face in three years, and I hope there will be more opportunities for us to meet in person like this.”
At the same time, he joked, “The microphone is quite low. I’m not that tall,” turning the scene into a sea of laughter.
Meanwhile, the winner of the “Actor of The Year” Award presented by Lee Byung Hun was Park Hae Il, the lead actor in director Park Chan Wook’s “Decision to Leave”. As Park Hae Il was unfortunately unable to attend, Seo Hyun Woo, who starred in the movie together with him, read Park Hae Il’s acceptance letter instead.
Park Hae Il said in his letter, “It’s a shame that I couldn’t attend because of a nasty cold and the aftereffects of the change of seasons. Awards where directors recognize actors’ performances are always meaningful, and it makes me realize that my efforts are not in vain. I would like to express my gratitude to director Park Chan Wook and the staff.”
