ILLIT’s Debut Choreography Resembles NewJeans and LE SSERAFIM?
Netizens have picked up on similarities between ILLIT's choreography and that of other HYBE girl groups, NewJeans and LE SSERAFIM.
ILLIT, HYBE’s latest girl group, officially debuted on March 25, 2024 and quickly created buzz. During their debut showcase, the members showcased gorgeous visuals while performing tracks from their debut mini-album “Super Real Me.”
ILLIT’s performance dazzled viewers with the distinct choreography. However, eagle-eyed netizens have been quick to notice resemblances to moves from other HYBE girl groups.
For instance, in ILLIT’s song “My World,” the opening sequence features Yunah positioned at the center, with other members extending their arms in different directions, creating a floral effect. This particular move was reminiscent of LE SSERAFIM’s “Fearless” with a similar formation led by Huh Yunjin.
Moka’s execution of a hero step dance move in ILLIT’s title track “Magnetic” sparked comparisons to Chaewon’s performance in LE SSERAFIM’s “Easy”.
Certain dance moves in “My World” also brought to mind memories of the hit “Attention” by NewJeans, while others seemed to slightly overlap with the iconic choreography of “Ditto.”
Some netizens view these similarities as respectful nods to the NewJeans and LE SSERAFIM as they are all under the same company, while others see it as HYBE’s strategic move to generate buzz and discussions around ILLIT’s debut.
