Hyeri’s Profile Re-examined Amid Love Drama With Han So-hee: Debuting In Controversial Group & Plastic Surgery Suspicion

Netizens looked back on Hyeri’s idol and acting career while her dating controversy with Han So-hee and Ryu Jun-yeol is still going on

The romance controversy between Han So-hee, Ryu Jun-yeol and Hyeri has been a hot topic during the past few days. On the morning of March 16th, Han So-hee released a long post confirming her relationship with Ryu Jun-yeol right after the actor broke up with Hyeri. Earlier, Hyeri also drew attention when she posted an ambiguous caption, saying “This is interesting” on her Instagram and unfollowed Ryu Jun-yeol, causing rumors of a “transit” relationship to arise.

In the meantime, some people took this opportunity to re-examine Hyeri’s career.

Hyeri was born in 1994 and her real name is Lee Hye-ri. In July 2010, the girl group Girl’s Day debuted with 5 members Jihae, Jisun, Jiin, Sojin and Minah. After two months, Jisun and Jiin left the group and they were replaced by Yura and Hyeri.

The group debuted with a sweet and cute concept but couldn’t gain attention from music fans. Later, they changed their image to sexy and began to make their name known to the public. However, being famous also led to more controversies.

Wearing short pants and performing a sexy choreography in the music video for “Expectation”, the four members created hot topics despite receiving criticism at the same time. The next music video “Female President” also faced negative reactions because of the members’ provocative clothes and scenes.

After Girl’s Day released “Something” in 2014, the sexy concept also became viral in the K-pop scene. This hit song marked the heyday of the girl group but they continued to be criticized for doing too many sexy dances. This song was banned on some terrestrial channels but Girl’s Day still performed it on other stages.

In addition to the scandals related to their concept, Hyeri was also suspected of undergoing plastic surgery. Comparing her debut pictures and the female idol’s visual at the time, netizens pointed out that her eyes got bigger and her nose also became smaller.

Despite controversies, Girl’s Day was active for 9 years until they officially disbanded in 2019. After the group’s disbandment, Hyeri turned to acting.

Starting acting in 2012 with the role of the youngest daughter in “Tasty Life”, Hyeri has gradually gained experience and built her filmography through various works. Throughout her acting career, her most famous work was “Reply 1988” (2015). This was also the drama that helped Hyeri and her ex-boyfriend Ryu Jun-yeol become a couple. The two dated for 7 years and officially broke up in 2023.
