Hyeri to become female protagonist of 19+ GL series “Friendly Competition”

According to Star News on Feb 6th, Hyeri has been confirmed to be cast in TVING’s original series “Friendly Competition”.

Based on the webtoon of the same name, “Friendly Competition” follows the story of Seul-gi, who transfers to a prestigious girls’ high school in Seoul after her father, who was a member of the exam committee for the college entrance exam, suddenly dies. Seul-gi becomes friends with Je-yi, who is not only the top student in the school but also an influential figure. However, as they grow closer, mysteries surrounding Je-yi’s true nature and the secrets of death unfold in this mystery psychological thriller GL (Girl Love) work.

In the drama, Hyeri plays the role of Yoo Je-yi, who is gifted not only with natural looks but also with high IQ, talent and charm. Unlike Woo Seul-gi, who was bullied, Yoo Je-yi lives as the envy of everyone, and the two characters, who share similar pain, will show a process of gradually falling for each other while suspecting and restraining each other.

In particular, since “Friendly Competition” depicts the story of teenagers who are deeply addicted and wandering, with themes such as drugs and self-harm, it is expected to be rated 19+ due to its somewhat high level of content. The screenplay is penned by writer Kim Tae-hee.

Hyeri is gearing up for the release of the movie “Victory” and is currently filming the movie “Tropical Night”.
