Amid the drug use suspicions involving actor Lee Sun-kyun and Hwang Hana, the granddaughter of Namyang Dairy Products’ founder, Hwang’s past remarks are being re-examined
Hwang Hana faced multiple drug-related allegations in the past. In 2015, she was indicted for using Philopon 3 times at her residence in Seoul. She was sentenced to 1 year in prison with a 2-year probation period. During the probation, she was convicted of drug use again and served 1 year and 8 months in prison.
After being released from prison, she appeared on a KBS current affairs program, expressing her desire to help addicts. Hwang Hana revealed that she drew webtoons with her father Hwang Jae-pil while in prison. She also revealed that she was living with her family in a camping van in Jeju Island.
Hwang stated that she was now confident she would not use drugs again, emphasizing her damaged teeth, facial skin and legs with numerous scars resulting from the physical effects of drug use.
Her father Hwang Jae-pil advised her to admit her mistakes and continue her rehabilitation program, expressing hope that she could become a guide for others if she succeeds in her recovery.
Meanwhile, the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency’s Drug Crime Investigation Unit is conducting an internal investigation based on information regarding 8 individuals’ drug-related allegations, including Lee Sun-kyun and Hwang Hana.
