Hwang Daeheon “Thank you to Jennie,” but there was no public support, what’s going on?

Hwang Dae-heon, a member of Korea’s national short-track speed skating team at the Beijing Olympics, had his wish come true.

Hwang Dae-heon, a member of Korea’s national short-track speed skating team at the Beijing Olympics, had his wish come true. He expressed his gratitude, saying he was cheered on by BLACKPINK Jennie. Earlier, Hwang Dae-heon also expressed his fan sentiment toward Jennie on YouTube.

Hwang Dae-heon said in an interview shortly after the men’s 5000m relay final on Feb 16th, “Can I say one more thing?” and added, “I want to thank RM (BTS) and Jennie for their support.”

Jennie has never publicly cheered for Korea’s national team during the Olympics. Personally, it seems that she had left a message of support for Hwang Dae-heon. Hwang Dae-heon has consistently expressed his “fan sentiment” toward Jennie.

Hwang Dae-heon appeared on Kwak Yoon-ki‘s YouTube channel in August last year and replied, “BLACKPINK Jennie,” when Kwak Yoon-ki asked, “Who do you want to be cheered by?” Hwang confessed, “I want to go to BLACKPINK’s concert. I usually listen to BLACKPINK songs a lot,” he said.

Hwang Dae-heon‘s fan sentiment was also known by Lee Jung-soo, a senior short-track speed skater and KBS commentator. When Hwang Dae-heon won the gold medal in the men’s 1,500m short track speed skating on Feb 9th, Lee Jung-soo said, “It is a gold medal worth a cheering from Jennie of BLACKPINK. With Jennie’s support, he will cheer up 200 to 300% and perform well in the men’s relay,” he said.
