“Hopeless” Song Joong Ki Shines with a Bright Smile at Cannes Photo Call
Song Joong Ki captivates with a radiant smile and handsome appearance at the Cannes photo call for “Hopeless”.
Song Joong Ki, following his appearance on the red carpet the previous day, captivated with a bright smile and simple yet sophisticated visuals at the official photocall event of the Cannes Film Festival.
On May 25th (local time), Song Joong Ki attended the official photocall event of the 76th Cannes International Film Festival for the film “Hopeless” held at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès in Cannes, France.
Song Joong Ki brightened the scene alongside emerging actors Hong Sa Bin and Kim Hyung Seo (Bibi), the cast of “Hopeless,” as well as director Kim Chang-hoon.
Song Joong Ki wore a black jacket and, instead of a shirt, paired it with a black t-shirt of a different shade, adding a touch of white pants for contrast. He gave off a casual yet neat vibe.
The fashion of Bibi also drew attention. On the previous day, Bibi garnered attention by wearing a completely fine black dress that emphasized her back. However, at the photocall event, she exuded freshness by appearing in an off-shoulder mini dress with blue ribbon decorations and a blue floral pattern.
“Hopeless”, which aroused keen attention after Song Joong Ki confirmed to star without receiving appearance fees, is a noir drama film about a boy named Yeon Gyu (Hong Xa Bin), who wants to escape from the hellish reality, meeting an organization’s middle boss Chi Gun (Song Joong Ki) and experiencing the dangerous world together. As soon as it was unveiled at the Cannes Market, “Hopeless” attracted various regions and countries around the world, including Europe, to purchase even before its official release.
On May 24th at 11 a.m. (local time), the movie had its world premiere at Salle Debussy and received favorable reviews. After the screening, “Hopeless” received a 4-minute standing ovation, proving its explosive popularity.
Song Joong Ki also expressed his feelings after the screening through the distributor Plus M Entertainment. The actor said, “I was very satisfied after watching the movie because I think the story was portrayed more deeply than the feelings I got when reading the script. Especially when I saw the expression on Yeon Gyu’s face as he looked at Chi Gun’s ear from behind at the reservoir scene, I was convinced that the emotions I felt when I first read the script were accurate. It made me think, ‘I made the right choice to be a part of this film’. Thank you to all our staff and actors, and I hope that ‘Hopeless’ would receive much love.”
