Honey Lee’s “Knight Flower” Surpasses 10% Rating After 3 Episodes, MBC’s Historical Drama Is Hitting Big Again

MBC’s Fri-Sat drama “Knight Flower” recorded a viewer rating of 10.8% in episode 3. The story, which revolves around Jo Yeo-hwa (Honey Lee), a woman who has been a widow for 15 years transforming into a knight wearing a mask at night to beat bad guys and help people in need, has not been unveiled much, but the drama already recorded double-digit ratings, raising expectations for another MBC’s historical hit drama like “The Red Sleeve” and “My Dearest”.

“Knight Flower” successfully captivated viewers at once thanks to the unique charm of the main character Jo Yeo-hwa. She’s a hero like Hong Gil-dong, but what makes this character different is the fact that she has been living in an invisible prison as a widow for 15 years. Jo Yeo-hwa is the hero born out of the contradictions in Joseon society, which requires women to follow principles and laws but never helps their poor and hungry people.

Seeing Jo Yeo-hwa pretending to follow the laws as a widow then covering her face with a mask and going out to help poor and hungry people, viewers also cheer for her hero’s moves at night. Park Soo-ho (Lee Jong-won), who learns about what the masked hero does while doing his mission as a military officer, also feels the same as viewers. The more he investigates her, the more he falls for her. As more characters begin to get involved in Jo Yeo-hwa’s good deeds, the story of “Knight Flower” may end up portraying a victory over the world that suppresses the people using the law.

Honey Lee

In particular, it is thanks to Honey Lee that the character Jo Yeo-hwa has become more attractive. Honey Lee has built her own cheerful and comical image with cool actions in her previous works, such as “Fiery Priest”, “One the Woman”, “Alienoid”, and “Extreme Job”. Therefore, she easily immersed herself in Jo Yeo-hwa, a woman with a challenging life as a widow, to portray the character in a unique and charismatic way, especially when showcasing cool action scenes as a hero taking down bad guys at night.

The narrative of “Knight Flower” is about to begin in earnest. While following Jo Yeo-hwa’s quest to find her missing brother and discover the story behind his disappearance, the story of Park Soo-ho, who lost his memory after his parents died and his family was destroyed, seeking the truth will also unfold and these cases are probably connected.

The story of a commoner hero leaping beyond the walls to help people in need, the melodramatic atmosphere between her and Park Soo-ho, and the mysterious events related to them stimulate viewers’ curiosities. However, the good performance of “Knight Flower”, which has only unveiled its setting, can be attributed to Honey Lee’s charming presence.
