Dancer Honey J told the story behind her and Rihey’s relationship.
Mnet’s “Street Woman Fighter Gala Talk Show”, which aired on the night of Nov 9th, featured eight dance crews YGX, LACHICA, WANT, WayB, Coca N Butter, PROWDMON, HOLYBANG, and HOOK. On the show, the dancers voted in advance for the famous battle they wanted to see again. Among them, Honey J and Rihey‘s “No Respect Battle” was selected as the No. 1.
Honey J and Rihey have had experience working under the same dance team “PURPLOW” in the past. The two reunited at “Street Woman Fighter” five years after the team was disbanded. Their reunion as rivals froze everyone with tension at the time of the broadcast, and in particular, many dancers were shown shaking in fear when Rihey pointed to Honey J during the “No Respect Battle”.
Rihey said, “It was called a “No Respect” battle when I chose her, but honestly, to our team, it was a respect battle,” adding, “We set a big standard for wanting to meet people we couldn’t meet. I’ve been with Honey J for a long time, but we have never had a battle between us. I wanted to battle because I thought she was a leader who runs hard for the team’s future,” she confessed.
Honey J shared, “In fact, we’ve never fought against each other but people keep spreading the rumor”. She continued, “I don’t know how those friends from CocaNButter feel, but as the rumor spread, I personally wondered, “Do they really hate me?”, so I was scared to check the fact. Therefore, I just avoided them.”
With a trembling voice, she continued the story, saying, “Actually, I felt so happy meeting everyone, not only Rihey. I came to talk with CocaNButter friends with joy but CocaNButter members then said, ‘Unnie, HOLY BANG members may feel upset.” Honey J looked back and said, “At that time, I really thought, ‘HOLY BANG members may have been so disappointed being in the same team with me.”
In the end, Honey J burst into tears because of the fact that she couldn’t talk to other members deeply. Then, she confessed her feelings, saying, “I want to meet and talk to them for once. I believe HOLY BANG members would understand that situation, but it seems like we unintentionally made other dancers around feel uncomfortable. Everyone, don’t worry and just support me.”
After that, Honey J and Rihey held a dance battle once again. The two even did similar dance moves and ended with a tight hug, impressing the audience with such a touching moment.
