Hollywood actor Armie Hammer broke his long silence and told his side of the story.
On February 4th, Armie Hammer had his first interview with Air Mail since he left Hollywood after the cannibalism and sexual assault allegations. The actor is currently residing in the Cayman Islands, out of the public eye.
“I just walked out into the ocean and swam out as far as I could and hoped that either I drowned, or was hit by a boat, or eaten by a shark,” Hammer told Air Mail, recalling a time in the Islands. “Then I realized that my kids were still on shore, and that I couldn’t do that to my kids.”
Armie Hammer then mentioned several controversies over himself. He came under fire in January 2021 when a number of women came forth, exposed his alleged cannibalism and charged sexual abuse against the actor. Amidst the whirlwind, Armie was also suspected of having an affair with a Russian girl for three years.
In response, he said, “I would have these younger women in their mid-20s, and I’m in my 30s. I was a successful actor at the time. They could have been happy to just be with me and would have said yes to things that maybe they wouldn’t have said yes to on their own.” He further explained the situation as an “imbalance of power.”
The actor recalled being raped by his youth pastor and attributed his current sexual tendency to the past trauma, saying, “I was powerless in the situation. I had no agency in the situation. Sexuality was introduced to me in a scary way where I had no control. My interests then went to: I want to have control in the situation, sexually.”
Hammer got recognized through his roles in a series of movies, namely “The Social Network,” “Call Me By Your Name,” “Rebecca” and “Death on the Nile.” The actor gained popularity both for his acting and charming appearance. Nonetheless, when a series of accusations came crashing in, the actor was kicked out of Hollywood and dropped from movie projects that were in talks of his roles and appearances.
Hammer entered a Florida rehabilitation facility for treatment after the scandal and had six months of treatment and medical care. More shockingly, it was only recently known that actor Robert Downey Jr. paid all the costs for Hammer’s rehab stay.
