“Hero” Kim Go Eun, “I felt frustrated while singing, even cried alone in the corner of the room”
Kim Go Eun confessed that she had a hard time doing the singing parts in “Hero”.
The press conference for the musical film “Hero” was held on the morning of November 21st at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Director Yoon Je Kyoon, actors Jung Sung Hwa, Kim Go Eun, Jo Jae Yoon, Bae Jung Nam, Lee Hyun Woo, and Park Jin Joo attended the event.
Regarding the release of “Hero”, Kim Go Eun said, “I was very excited when I heard that the movie was finally being released. It is finally premiering after such a long time. It feels fresh”. She continued, “It’s been a long time since I finished filming ‘Hero’ in 2019. I felt a little disappointed every time I got messages from the group chat saying the movie couldn’t be released yet. But I’m relieved now”.
Kim Go Eun also mentioned how he acted in the singing parts in “Hero”. She confessed, “I majored in Theater and Film until high school, so I did sing many musical songs. I only sang musical songs back then, so I know the musical songs that appear in ‘Hero’. I thought I could do it well after practicing a little bit because I used to sing them in high school. But I didn’t realize that 10 years had passed. I haven’t sung those songs for 10 years. I couldn’t sing them again after 10 years.”
She continued, “So I felt very frustrated. Why did I think so short? I even cried in the corner of the room by myself because it was hard to increase the number of songs in a short period of time. I was sobbing with emotions while singing. I made a careless remark that I had to sing live with confidence, but I couldn’t do it on the spot.”
She added, “So, between acting and singing, in fact, I gave up singing on set and focused more on acting, because I wasn’t good enough to sing.”
On the other hand, “Hero” depicts the last unforgettable story of Ahn Jung Geun (Jung Sung Hwa), who died in Harbin in October 1909 after killing Ito Hirobumi for the Korean independence movement. and was sentenced to death by a Japanese court.
“Hero” is the new film directed by Yoon Je Kyun, 8 years after the war drama film “Ode to My Father”, and is based on the musical “Youngwoong”.
“Hero” will be released in December.
