Here’s where the filming of North Korea scenes in “Crash Landing on You” took place

“Crash Landing on You” North Korea set looks very realistic. Where was it?

The DMZ where Yoon Se Ri (Son Ye Jin) and Ri Jung Hyuk (Hyun Bin) meet in episode 1 of “Crash Landing on You” is Jeju Island, not the actual Demilitarized Zone. In fact, it was difficult to film in the DMZ, and the places where filming was possible were places that had not been touched by humans for decades.

The main set in the early days of filming, Bunhak-gun’s private house village, was completed by building a large-scale set after exploring several places.

Where was this place that perfectly recreated Pyongyang Station? The production crew filmed scenes from Pyongyang Station, Kaesong Station and trains in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. An old train was in operation at the time, so they took advantage of the train’s waiting time to finish filming like lightning.

The iconic field bonfire scene was also reportedly filmed in Mongolian.

The place where Yoon Se Ri went on a picnic with Ri Jung Hyuk and soldiers was Binaeseom Island in Chungju, Chungcheongbuk-do, Korea. It was a picnic different from Yoon Se Ri’s idea, but it created a wonderful scene in harmony with the autumn scenery of Binaeseom. At the time, filming took place at the end of November, in time with the reeds’ full bloom, but the cast had to endure the cold while filming.
