Heo Youngji smiled brightly alongside her bandmates, drawing attention because it was her first public update after dating speculation involving Daesung emerged on June 22.
The rumors began after footage of Daesung and Heo Youngji attending a Mamamoo concert together at Seoul Olympic Park spread across online platforms. The two were seen sitting beside each other, examining light sticks and talking with bright smiles, leading some viewers to assume they were on a date.
An earlier comment from Daesung also resurfaced and fueled the speculation. On his channel, he had previously said: “Taeyang told me to try getting along with Youngji. He says Youngji is nice and tells everyone to give it a try. Maybe he thought our chemistry was really good.” However, Daesung’s agency, R&D Company, denied the dating rumors on the same day.
A representative explained that the two became close after appearing together on ZIP Daesung and attended the Mamamoo concert as friends. “They are only close colleagues, and the dating rumors are not true,” the agency stated. Oh My Girl’s Hyojung was reportedly also present at the concert, but the rumors arose after online posts focused mainly on Daesung and Heo Youngji.
Following the brief controversy, Heo Youngji appeared relaxed and happy while spending time with her KARA members. The group’s visit to support Park Gyuri also highlighted their continued friendship and close bond. Heo Youngji joined KARA in 2014 and has since remained active as a singer, actress and variety personality.
