Belift Lab has once again confirmed that Heeseung will not return to the K-pop group ENHYPEN, despite growing backlash from fans across the globe.
In a statement shared with The Korea Herald, the agency explained that the decision was made after considering the singer’s artistic direction. A company representative said that Heeseung has a clear vision for the path he wants to pursue musically and that the agency decided to respect his choice.

Earlier, the HYBE subsidiary announced that the group’s main vocalist would focus on developing a solo career outside the group. The news quickly triggered a strong reaction from the fandom, particularly among international fans, who launched several campaigns urging the company to reconsider.
Shortly after the announcement, fans of ENHYPEN—known as Engene—organized a series of protests and online initiatives. Supporters created online petitions, funded digital billboard campaigns, and staged demonstrations to demand that Heeseung remain part of the group.
Beginning on March 11, protest trucks displaying messages calling for Heeseung’s return were seen outside the headquarters of HYBE in Seoul. Fan communities from countries including the Philippines, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and India also issued a joint statement addressing the situation.

In the statement, fans expressed support for Heeseung’s artistic development but rejected the idea that pursuing a solo career should require leaving the group. They pointed out that many K-pop artists successfully release solo albums, collaborate on independent projects, and explore individual careers while still maintaining group activities.

However, Belift Lab explained that ENHYPEN’s schedule is extremely packed throughout the year, making it difficult for members to manage large-scale personal projects while continuing full group promotions. According to the agency, allowing Heeseung to pursue an independent solo career was the most practical solution for all parties involved.
Despite this explanation, many fans remain skeptical about how the decision was made. Some supporters believe the company may be withholding key details surrounding the singer’s departure.
Fans have also pointed to several signs suggesting the decision might have been made abruptly. According to one international fan, several fan call events involving Heeseung were canceled at the last minute, while episodes of the group’s YouTube series En-o’clock temporarily stopped being released. Meanwhile, merchandise and promotional materials featuring the idol continued to circulate.

Additional speculation arose when reports claimed that Heeseung’s flight for the music festival Hello Melbourne was canceled only two days before the event. As a result, stage arrangements and vocal line distributions reportedly had to be changed shortly before the performance.
Fans also focused on a handwritten letter that Heeseung posted online. In the message, he mentioned that leaving the group had been “suggested” by the company, which led some supporters to question whether the decision was entirely voluntary.
Meanwhile, the remaining members of ENHYPEN have not publicly addressed the situation. Some fans believe this silence could be due to communication restrictions imposed by the management company.

Fan protests are currently taking place not only in Seoul but are also being planned near HYBE’s office in Los Angeles. Demonstrations in South Korea are expected to continue through March 21.
Many supporters say they will ultimately respect Heeseung’s decision if he truly chooses to pursue a solo career. However, the sudden sequence of events and the lack of detailed explanations from the company have left fans feeling that the situation may be more complicated than what has been publicly revealed.
