On March 12, El Capitxn (Jang Yi-jeong), a producer and songwriter under HYBE label BigHit Music, expressed his anger toward some ENHYPEN fans on his Instagram account.

He wrote, “Stop sending me messages about Lee Heeseung. If you’re truly fans, you should hug him before throwing stones,” adding, “Why do you keep blaming me? You foolish people,” revealing his frustration.

The controversy began after some ENHYPEN fans targeted El Capitxn, who has worked on music with Heeseung, accusing him of “encouraging Heeseung’s artist ego and leading to his departure.” These fans allegedly launched cyber attacks on El Capitxn’s Instagram account, directing unreasonable criticism at a creator who had no proven connection to the decision.

Attempts by some fans to control public opinion have also come under scrutiny. Through online communities and social media, they spread unverified rumors claiming that the agency had forcibly removed Heeseung from the group.

In addition, some fans reportedly sent mass emails to certain journalists, exceeding 10,000 messages per day, effectively continuing what critics describe as harassment.

Despite the fact that the agency, the remaining ENHYPEN members, and Heeseung himself have all stated that the group’s transition to a six-member lineup was mutually agreed upon, some fans appear unwilling to accept these statements.

This is not the first time ENHYPEN’s fandom has been criticized for extreme actions. In 2023, some fans staged a truck protest in front of HYBE’s headquarters demanding that the choreography for the title track “Bite Me” be completely removed because it included female dancers. The protest at the time drew criticism for being excessive.

Now, following the news of Heeseung’s departure on March 10, some fans have once again spread conspiracy theories and announced another truck protest demanding that the decision be reversed. The situation has sparked debate over the lack of maturity in certain parts of K-pop fandom culture.
