“Heavy Snow” led by Han So Hee was reportedly invited to the Korean Film Competition section of Jeonju International Film Festival

The movie “Heavy Snow”, starring Han So Hee as a lead, will premiere at the Jeonju International Film Festival.

On April 25th, director Yoon Soo Ik of “Heavy Snow”, which was invited to the Korean Film Competition section of the 24th Jeonju International Film Festival, revealed his plans and points of view on the movie.

“Heavy Snow” depicts the love and wanderings of young people through the story of the friendship between two girls at Gangneung Art High School, Soo An (Han Hae In) and Seol Yi (Han So Hee), who are wondering about their dreams of film and acting, their emotions and fateful reunion, as well as images, such as realistic fantasy, fantastic realism, strong waves, and white snow.

“Heavy Snow” is Han So Hee’s debut movie when she was a rookie in the second year of her acting career. Four years after the filming was completed, it is finally being released. Director Yoon Soo Ik said, “When I was living in Yangyang, Gangwon-do, wanting to concentrate on scriptwriting, I learned how to surf. One day, when I was surfing alone in the winter sea where snow was pouring heavily, I got the inspiration for ‘Heavy Snow’. Naturally, the rough scenery of the winter sea and heavy snow became the background of the movie, and I tried to create a dreamy cinematic atmosphere by combining it will the melodrama of the two unique female characters”.

Regarding the points to focus on while watching this movie, director Yoon shared, “We utilize the characteristic of the blurry line between fantasy and reality to challenge aesthetically bold and beautiful visuals. However, we added simple stories and interesting settings so that the movie doesn’t cross the line and becomes unrealistic and difficult to watch. In addition, we aimed to make a wide range of audiences sympathize with our story”

Regarding his relationship with Han So Hee, he said, “While having a hard time finding someone to play the role of Seol Yi in ‘Heavy Snow’, I got to know Han So Hee. When I saw her, I thought that she could express the pain associated with the beauty of Seol Yi. My impression of her was that she was a delicate, serious, and courageous actress.”

Meanwhile, “Heavy Snow” will be screened at 1 p.m. in Cinema 3 and 8 at Megabox Jeonju Guest House on April 29th, at 10 a.m. in Megabox Jeonju Guest House’s Cinema 3 on May 1st, and at 1 p.m. in CGV Jeonju’s Cinema 7 on May 5th.
