On January 8 and 10, two videos showing the behind the scenes of the 2023 Asia Artist Awards (2023 AAA) were published on the award ceremony’s official channel.
Here, the singers and actors who attended the 2023 AAA were asked to select 3 stars they want to do a challenge with and an actor they are anticipating the next work of by putting a sticker under the respective artists’ names.
As they select, many singers and actors would also state the reason behind their selections, which results in a rather heart-breaking situation for STAYC and ZB1 (ZeroBaseOne).
In particular, when it’s ZB1’s turn with the voting board, the boy group realized that not many people voted for them. They then thanked those who voted for them, and eventually decided to vote for themselves.
On top of this, STAYC came to the voting board only to see that they didn’t receive a single vote. The girl group also decided to vote for themselves, and while still keeping their smiles, said to the camera, “Please vote for us a lot. Please show a lot of interest.”
Upon watching the videos, netizens who watched ZB1 and STAYC are heartbroken and angered. According to them, there’s no point for AAA to create the voting board, as this would only hurt artists from small agencies and less fame.
Additionally, comments such as “I just wanna give them a big hug”, “Whoever had the idea is evil”, “Why is this even a thing… This is just crushing spirits for no reason”, and “Why do they do these votes in the first place? It’s pointless and just leads to pain for the poor artists who (usually not from big4) are left out despite their achievements, popularity, and talent”, can be seen all over the SNS platform X.
