“Hangout with Yoo” with new members recorded unusual ratings

MBC’s variety show “Hangout with Yoo” recorded the lowest ratings this year.

Episode 151 of MBC’s “Hangout with Yoo“, which aired on Sep 10th, recorded a nationwide viewership rating of 4.5% (provided by Nielsen Korea). Although ”Hangout with Yoo” has maintained the 5~7% range this year, it showed a somewhat sluggish side as it recorded the 4% range for the first time.

Especially, “Hangout with Yoo” resumed broadcasting with new members Lee Yi-kyung and Park Jin-joo on Sep 3rd after a reorganization period of about 3 weeks, but failed to increase the ratings.

It has been on the decline since the broadcast on Sep 3rd as it recorded 5.2% (Sep 3rd) then 4.5% (Sep 10th).

The poor ratings of “Hangout with Yoo” attracted attention from the online community. Some community users said, “Just let Yoo Jae-suk do alone, please”, “The format is too boring”, “I don’t feel the members’ chemistry”…

On the other hand, there were people who supported the show, such as “All the new members were funny”, “It was impossible to get high viewership ratings because of Chuseok”, “I didn’t expect it, but it was very interesting”…

Meanwhile, “Hangout with Yoo”, which first aired in July 2019, underwent major changes with the resignation of PD Kim Tae-ho and the joining of Jeong Joon-ha, Haha, Shin Bong-sun, Lee Mi-joo. Hangout with Yoo”, which took a break for about 3 weeks, has been running as a 7-member system since the broadcast on Sep 3rd with actors Lee Yi-kyung and Park Jin-joo as new members.
