“Hangout with Yoo”, which is airing WSG Wannabe special episodes, shows a decline in ratings for 3 consecutive weeks
“Hangout with Yoo”, one of MBC’s representative entertainment programs, has been showing a decline in viewership ratings for 3 consecutive weeks.
According to the viewership ratings research company Nielsen Korea on June 19th, MBC’s “Hangout with Yoo” recorded 5.5% nationwide and 5.9% in the Seoul metropolitan area. The 2049 viewership rating, a key indicator of channel competitiveness, was 3.0%, taking first place among Saturday entertainment programs.
“Hangout with Yoo” ranked first compared to other shows, but it was a disappointing record in view of its own ratings alone.
Earlier, “Hangout with Yoo” recorded viewership ratings ranging from 6% to 7% on average.
Episode 139, which aired in the last week of May, recorded 7% nationwide, but dropped to 6.9% in episode 140, 6.3% in episode 141 and 5.5% in episode 142.
Viewers who love the show pointed out that the reason for this drop in ratings is the prolonged WSG Wannabe special episodes.
Since the beginning of April, “Hangout with Yoo” has been working on a project to form WSG Wannabe, a female vocal group that was expected to succeed MSG Wannabe’s popularity. Episodes of this special feature have been aired for two months from member formation to song selection.
Currently, “Hangout with Yoo” is divided into Yoo Jae-suk, Lee Mi-joo, Kim Sook, Shin Bong-sun, and Jung Joon-ha, representatives of the three companies, and selecting songs for each company’s group. The song ‘Now’, composed by singer Yangpa, and the candidate song ‘It’s Time’, written and composed by SG Wannabe’s Kim Jin-ho, have been unveiled.
In addition, candidate songs for WSG Wannabe are pouring in, but when this special feature will end seems uncertain. Therefore, viewers who are getting tired have left complaints such as, “It is fun, but it feels too dragging out at this point”.
However, curiosity is also increasing regarding the upcoming developments. WSG Wannabe’s selection of an agency is making viewers excited. In the next broadcast, the remaining members Yoon Eun-hye, So-yeon, Uhm Ji-yoon, and SOLE will all complete choosing their agency.
