Han So-hee, T-ARA’s Areum, and Lee Yoon-jin: When Stars Caused And Explained Scandals On Social Media
As social media is now serving as a window for official statements when controversy arises.
◆ Han So-hee
Actor Ryu Jun-yeol and actress Han So-hee were spotted in Hawaii on March 15th, which raised dating rumors. Ryu’s ex-girlfriend Hyeri posted an Instagram story saying “interesting,” which made many people suspect that Ryu broke up with Hyeri to be with Han. Later, Han So-hee and Ryu Jun-yeol admitted to their dating, but denied the “transit love” allegations. Han was caught lying about the time she knew about Ryu’s break-up. In the end, both Hyeri and Han issued an apology.
However, things didn’t end there. Han So-hee suddenly made a long post on March 29, blaming Hyeri for starting the transit love scandal and not responding to her contact. Han also criticized Ryu for keeping quiet throughout the controversy.
◆ T-ARA’s former member Areum
Areum married a businessman two years older than her in 2019 and had two children. The two tried to resolve their conflicts in the show ‘Between Marriage and Divorce’ in 2023, but eventually announced their divorce lawsuit in December 2023. Controversies arose when news of Areum having a new boyfriend was spread. The number of malicious comments surged to the extent that Areum’s new boyfriend even attempted to suicide. Areum recently revealed her ex-husband’s act of child abuse, gambling and domestic violence.
In the meantime, reporter-turned-YouTuber Lee Jin-ho released text messages and phone call transcripts, saying that he found circumstantial evidence that Areum and her boyfriend demanded tens of millions of won from her social media followers for her medical expenses, for which Areum explained that she had been hacked. Areum later made a similar extreme choice as her boyfriend. Later, she posted a photo in the hospital, announcing legal actions against false accusations.
◆ Lee Yoon-jin
Interpreter Lee Yoon-jin and top actor Lee Bum-soo used to be an ideal couple of the entertainment industry until a few days ago when the two announced their divorce lawsuit. Lee Yoon-jin posted on her Instagram that Lee Bum-soo didn’t help her with house chores and his family despised her. She also accused Lee of preventing their son from contacting her.
YouTuber Lee Jin-ho later claimed that this was not true. Their son didn’t contact her on his own will after strongly expressing his desire to live with his father. However, according to the YouTuber, their son was brainwashed after many years of his father talking badly about his mother.
